HERSHEY SYRUP CAKE

(From Pillsburys Bake Off Cake Cook Book)

This cakes real name is Chocolate Intrigue, but if we filed it under C for chocolate instead of H for Hershey, wed never find it.

1 cup butter, softened (you can use half Crisco and half butter)

2 cups sugar

3 eggs

3 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 cup milk

1 ½ tsp vanilla

¾ cup Hersheys syrup

¼ tsp baking soda

Oven 350                                        10 Tube Pan

Generously grease and flour a 10 tube pan.  In a large mixer bowl, cream butter.  Gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy.  Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.  At low speed, blend in flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk and vanilla, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.  Blend well after each addition.  Pour 2/3 of batter into prepared pan.  To remaining batter, blend in chocolate syrup and soda.  Pour chocolate batter over yellow batter in pan.  Bake at 350  for 65 to 70 minutes.  Cool about 20 minutes and remove from pan.
