I think this is one of Grandmas recipes. Its one of my favorites because its so easy to make. Theres no butter to defrost or mixer to wash.
1 ¾ cups coarsely chopped apples (about 2 medium - any type of apple works fine)
1 cup sugar
½ cup melted butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp cinnamon
½ cup raisins
½ cup (Angela, pretend you dont see this) chopped nuts
Oven 350 8 square pan
Put the apples in a large bowl. Mix in the sugar and let stand 10 minutes. Blend in butter, then add the egg. Sift together the dry ingredients and stir them into the apple mixture. Fold in the raisins and nuts. Pour into a greased 8 square pan and bake at 350 for 50 to 55 minutes.
